With technology touching nearly every aspect of our society, it is essential that all students acquire skills and knowledge in computer science (CS). Unfortunately, availability of classes and interests from students is still limited due to a low presence of CS in K-12 education. To address this challenge, we have developed a system which uses hip hop music to teach basic computer programming skills.
Code Beats is offering a 1 week session in person summer camp which is open to rising 6th graders to rising 9th graders. The registration is free. Any questions, please contact [email protected].
There are three available camp sessions:
We will teach students to create their own hip hop beats using basic computer programming skills. The sessions will be conducted at VCU where students will be able to engage with professors from VCU’s College of Engineering and VCU's School of Arts, assistants and other students in the camp.

- Camp 3 from July 18th to July 22nd, 8am - noon
- Camp 4 from July 18th to July 22nd, 1pm - 5pm
